Porton Achieves Third-Party Verification for Its First Commercial Product LCA and PCF Study
Porton Pharma Solutions Ltd. ("Porton") announced that its first commercial product Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) study has successfully completed independent third-party verification by SGS. Conducted in accordance with ISO 14040:2006 and ISO 14044:2006 (Life Cycle Assessment) and ISO 14067:2018 (Product Carbon Footprint) standards, the study employs a cradle-to-gate system boundary, marking the formal extension of Porton's ESG management from the organizational level to the product level.

The LCA study was conducted in accordance with ISO 14040:2006 and ISO 14044:2006, following the four-phase framework — goal and scope definition, Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) analysis, Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA), and interpretation. The PCF calculation further adheres to the specific requirements of ISO 14067:2018 for greenhouse gas quantification and reporting, focusing on the single impact category of climate change, with a functional unit of one kilogram of product.
The study employs a cradle-to-gate system boundary, covering upstream raw material acquisition and transportation, process energy and utility consumption, manufacturing process emissions and waste treatment, and packaging materials. Data is primarily sourced from the Company's operational measurements, supplemented by industry-recognized life cycle inventory databases, ensuring the traceability and reproducibility of the results. The independent third-party verifier conducted a systematic verification of the study's goal and scope definition, data quality, methodological choices, and result reporting in accordance with ISO 14064-3 and ISO 14065, and has issued a verification statement with a reasonable assurance level.
As a trusted CDMO partner, Porton is committed not only to delivering high-quality R&D and manufacturing services, but also to providing verifiable data to support customers' ESG objectives. The establishment of LCA and PCF capabilities is a key initiative in the Company's evolution from organizational-level greenhouse gas management to product-level environmental performance management. By identifying environmental hotspots across the product life cycle, Porton can drive targeted process optimization, innovative technology adoption, and collaborative value chain decarbonization, delivering shared value for both environmental performance and business growth.
